|

South Wales Volvos members have been invited to attend an open day at the workshops of Old and Fast (www.oldandfast.co.uk), a firm specialising in classic and fast cars. They also have a large interest in Volvos - one of the owners is in possession of an 850 T5 with NOS kit and an XC90. They have recently fitted an LPG kit to a S80.
For those interested, food and beverages (both alcoholic and hot) will be available.
If this proves to be an interesting day, then more will be arranged for the future.
Anyway, now the bits you need to know:
Date
Saturday 20th September (this saturday)
Time
12pm - late
Location
Old and Fast Automotive Engineering Ltd.
Unit 4
J.B. Business Park
Lamby Way
Rumney
Cardiff
CF3 2EQ
Please reply with how many are going if you wish to attend - just to allow for food.
I'm going! 2 + 3 _________________

Out of interest you havent mentioned the option for having work carried out, so am i right in thinking its a workshop carrying out their normal work, with everyone watching, or is it that other people who are allready confirmed as going from other sites have booked their cars in allready?
I am working this saturday, so defintely cant make it, but have fun those who attend :) _________________ My Car: C70 T5 GT Manual, RICA 304, ITG Air Filter, Strut Brace, Touch Screen DVD

Just to clear up any misunderstanding as to what the Open Day is all about, I thought I'd better post a few lines.
The intention is for a "FUN" day, showing our capabilities, the kit we use and the type of work we involve ourselves with. And, meet some new people, talk cars, eat some snacks, have a few bevvies and play with some of our toys!
There will be several cars with work in progress, several engine and gearbox rebuilds, including the 6.0 litre 500bhp full race V12 we are building, and some interesting cars - my Parradine Pegasus V12, the only roadgoing example in the world and one of only 19 factory produced cars. It is the first car in the world to be built with a carbon fibre/kevlar composite body and was road tested at 173 mph (0 - 60 4.2secs), costing £92,000 in 1990.
In addition to a goodly number of Volvo clients, we also do a lot of work on classic Minis (and other classic and high performance cars) and hopefuly will have the 1971 historic rally car running with a full race 1380cc Arden crossflow 8 port engine and 4 forward facing Amal Carbs. My 850 T5 with dump valve and NOS kit and my wife's XC90 will be here, along with many other interesting cars - and some "interesting" owners! Ther will be some classic Minis coming which should be interest to Volvo owners as all tranverse engined Volvos have their roots in the Mini.
It is not the intention to be actually working on cars on the Open Day, but if anyone has any technical problems we would be more than happy to hook their cars up to our OBD2 scanner and dagnostic suite, and get our hands dirty!
Refreshments will be available, and all will be made very welcome, along with children (including my 8 year old daughter) and household pets, if necessary.
Any queries, please give us a call on: 02920 792956 or my mobile: 07771 874936.
Looking forward to meeting as many SWV members as possible,
with best regards to all in the meantime
