|
|
Since it was cheaper to buy a £275 940GL 2.0 than to fix my 460SI which has been sat on my driveway for over a year since failing it's MOT (which is why I've not been active on this forum really) I plan to scrap it some time next week in order to free up driveway space.
Anyone want to buy some parts. I'm not going to ask a huge price for them, you can have anything you can take off the car so long as I'm left with a rolling shell at the end of it. Seats, interior, doors, light clusters, engine bits, hell take the whole engine if you can manage it (I wouldn't have a clue how to get it out). The bodywork is somewhat scabby and the red paint is now a lovely shade of pink, however the engine ran fine last time I drove it.
I'm located about 5 minutes from Blackwood.
Edit: If you want me to take pictures of anything first, just let me know, and if it's a part that I can remove easy enough (ie. not the engine) then I can take it off and post it if you prefer that. |

| Last chance. Going to weigh it in tomorrow as my GF's 200SX is having to park on the road and on Thursdays Blackwood fills with chav twats in bodykitted Corsas so we want the SX on the driveway by then. All parts (except engine) a tenner or less. Doors, glass, seats, take what you like I don't care so long as it still rolls. |

Before you do, cut the cat out of the exhaust and take it down to Sims Metal on the docks in Newport, depending on size you can get up to 40 quid for it alone, and I doubt very much the scrappy'll notice it's missing when they pay you for the car! _________________

Excellent advice.
Will they take that section of exhaust or do I actually need to get the cat out? I think it's a fairly new exhaust on that car too. |

Bugger, can't find the spanner that stops the angle grinder from turning while you unscrew the current attachment, and a normal spanner doesn't fit.
Will a grinding wheel go through the exhaust ok? |

Found the spanner now. Just got to wait for it to stop raining.
A local metal recycling place also offered me a fiver for the radiator, if it's copper or ally. Any idea if it is?
Also the deadline for anyone wanting parts is Thursday afternoon |

They'll only be interested in the cat, so I'd just cut through the standard sections of exhaust on either side of the flanges of the cat and not worry about the rest.
They measure the length, possibly width too, rather than weight. Haven't a clue about the size of the cat on your car, but my Rover 400 cat got me 25 quid, effectively halving the cost of a new one
Sims is quite a large site, took me some time to find the right place to go. Don't sit in the queue with the lorries, go around and take a left, followed by a second right IIRC! The place you want is next to the office block. Might be point 1. Or possibly point 4. Bloody numbers! _________________

Hmm, struggling with this. Can't get all the way through, think I need a bigger grinder than my Halfords special.
Also the switch on it has started jamming in the ON position, so I think I'll have to abandon this job, unless someone else wants to get it out and I'll split it with you :) |
